Latest News and Updates on Premier League Transfers

Having completed the transfer of Jack Grealish, Manchester City are still mooted on the rumoured purchase of Harry Kane. Meanwhile, Spurs are looking for his replacement in Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez. Martinez’s strike partner Romelu Lukaku is headed to Chelsea where he spent the years between 2011 and 2014.

With several weeks still left in the transfer window, the merry-go-round goes on in the Premier League. Here are all the updates you need to know and be informed about:

CHELSEA TO CLOSE RE-SIGNING LUKAKU SOON

Chelsea are extremely close to completing one of the biggest deals of the summer, well, after the Leo Messi spectacle of course. Romelu Lukaku, who spent three seasons at Stamford Bridge but couldn’t quite break into the first team along with Kevin De Bruyne and Mo Salah, has completed his medical for Chelsea and an official announcement is pending soon, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Lukaku has evolved throughout his career and has blossomed into a lethal striker, among the best in Europe. Lukaku led the Inter resurgence under Antonio Conte and even won them the Serie A title last season. That was their first league victory in 11 years. Lukaku also had a productive European Championship campaign with Belgium.

Strapped for cash, Inter have had to part ways with several key players this season, including Achraf Hakimi who left for PSG for 70 million euros. The Lukaku deal will fetch them anywhere between 115 to 135 million euros.

The Belgian will be a perfect addition for the Champions of Europe who have been extremely efficient at creating chances under Thomas Tuchel.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR CONTINUE TO PURSUE LAUTARO MARTINEZ

Inter Milan’s desperate situation might also see them part ways with Lukaku’s partner-in-crime Lautaro Martinez. The Argentine striker, who recently won the Copa America, is on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar. Spurs’ star forward Harry Kane is almost on the verge of moving to Manchester City and Tottenham have been looking for a suitable replacement.

Lautaro, who also played a big role in sealing the Serie A title for Inter last season, could line up opposite to his former partner Romelu Lukaku, whose Chelsea deal is almost complete. A fee of 60 million pounds is doing the rounds and some reports suggest that Arsenal might also get involved in the battle soon. As of now, Tottenham have the upper hand.

JOHN STONES SIGNS A NEW MANCHESTER CITY CONTRACT

Manchester City defender has agreed to a new contract at Manchester City. The new five-year deal will keep him at the club until 2026 and he’s set to earn 250,000 pounds per week. Stones formed a wonderful partnership with new signing Ruben Dias last season and City have been satisfied with his performances which resulted in this long contract.

ARSENAL HAVE TO COUGH UP A LARGE SUM FOR MADDISON, SAY LEICESTER CITY

Martin Odegaard’s six-month loan deal at Arsenal has come to an end and the Gunners are once again trying to look for a creative, attacking central midfielder to improve their squad. Although Arsenal are still interested in signing Odegaard permanently, they await further updates from Real Madrid regarding the player’s availability.

Meanwhile, they also have Leicester City’s James Maddison as their primary target. However, Leicester’s expensive 80-million-dollars tag on the player could prove to be a major obstacle in the negotiations.

Arsenal have already spent a whopping sum on defender Ben White (70 million dollars) and also spent around 20 million dollars on young midfielder Albert Lokonga. As a result, they probably don’t have enough money in the bank to cash on James Maddison without making any key sales.

LEICESTER CITY HAVE THEIR EYES ON JESSE LINGARD

Leicester City have no problems putting their star midfielder James Maddison on the market, albeit at a hefty price tag. With several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, interested in his services, Leicester City could make good money from the sale.

They have already lined up a replacement in Jesse Lingard in case Maddison departs. Lingard spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham and scored nine times in 16 appearances. The Foxes might be tempted to sign the 28-year-old according to Football London.

TANGUY NDOMBELE’S TOTTENHAM FUTURE IN DOUBTS

According to reports, French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is considering his future at Tottenham Hotspur. Since his big-money move from Lyon in 2019 – the highest transfer in Tottenham’s history – Ndombele has struggled to hit his peak form and as a result, has been in and out of the starting XI dynamics.

He was left out of the side that took on Arsenal this weekend. Although his current contract runs until 2025, Ndombele might be looking for an exit. He was heavily involved in the transfer market proceedings last summer and it could prove to be the theme for Spurs this time around as well.
