Pro Kabaddi Dream Team: The Best The League Has Seen

Have you ever wondered who would make it to a Pro Kabaddi Dream Team if there was one ever created? We wondered too and hence, taking into consideration statistics and impact over the seven seasons of Pro Kabaddi, we have created a blockbuster Kabaddi dream team.

The Pro Kabaddi was introduced to the world in 2014 and since then, many top players of the sport have come and gone but only the real superstars have stayed on. Here we take a look at the best players in the various positions on a mat who, if put together, would create a cult team. Let us know your thoughts!

DEEPAK NIWAS HOODA (Captain)

The current Indian team captain and the winner of the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2020, Deepak Niwas Hooda leads our Kabaddi Dream team. He has been around for all seven seasons and has been the most consistent player in the all-time all-rounder’s list. He was an integral member of the 2016 World Cup winning team and has improved the fitness standards of the entire team. He leads by example and that’s one of the reasons we’ve gone for him to put on the captain’s armband. His ability to cope under pressure and deliver at a crunch stage of a game tells us why he has been such an influential player all through the seven seasons. He is just 26 and is peaking at the right time. He was also the most successful all-rounder in the league in the previous two seasons.

MANJEET CHHILLAR (Left Cover)

Adjudged as the best defender in Season 1 of the Pro Kabaddi, Manjeet is again one of those who have been around since the inception of the league. The all-rounder is considered as one of the most sturdy defenders in the league and at the same time, can get his team some important raid points as well. Chhillar is one of only two players with over 200 raid points and tackle points in Pro Kabaddi history and certainly commands his place in our Kabaddi dream team.

PO SURJEET SINGH (Right Cover)

Surjeet Singh is one of the most incisive cover defenders in the league and an absolute beast when it comes to High 5s in the league. He pounces on mistakes caused by the raiders and is a nightmare to raid against. In Season Seven, he was the most successful cover defender in the league with 63 points and led the High 5 charts as well.  Surjeet was also a prominent member of the 2016 World Cup winning team and continues to inspire the players around him in Pro Kabaddi.

FAZEL ATRACHALI (Left Corner)

Arguably the most complete defender in the league, the Iranian is inspirational and his technique is pretty sound. Another player who leads by example and makes that left corner completely his own. He is surely one of the best foreign players to have played in the league so far as he is one of only two players with multiple Best Defender awards. He was also the only defender to score over 80 points in Season 7. Unlike the others, he hasn’t been around since the first season but has definitely done enough to make it to our Kabaddi Dream team.

RAVINDER PAHAL (Right Corner)

One of the best right corner defenders going around in the league, Pahal carefully guards that position on the mat and can quickly catch hold of the thigh of the raider. In Season 7, Pahal crossed the 300 tackle point barrier and was the second-best defender of the league at that time. He has been a mainstay in the league since Season 1 and continues to get better as the league progresses.

RAHUL CHAUDHARI (Raider)

The ‘Showman’ Rahul Chaudhari had to make it to our Kabaddi Dream team for sure. He has been one of the most prominent players in the league since its start and continues to break all the barriers to date. In Season 7, he became the second man to score 1000 points in the league and both these raiders have made it to our team. Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has famously said that he sees shades of himself in Rahul Chaudhari and that tells us the high standards of this raider.

PARDEEP NARWAL (Raider)

Our second raider had to be the ‘Record-Breaker’ himself, Pardeep Narwal. The three-time Pro Kabaddi winner was amongst the first names to make it to our Kabaddi Dream team. It’s interesting to note his rise to prominence as a shy lad from Haryana took the league by storm in his first season with the Patna Pirates in Season 3. He has the most points by any player, most successful raids, most super 10s and most super raids to his name. How can anybody have a Kabaddi Dream team without Pardeep Narwal in it?
