Frontrunners To Win The Serie A 2021-22 Title

The Serie A 2021-22 season finds itself in an extremely competitive as well as interesting situation. In the first three weeks, three teams in AS Roma, AC Milan and Napoli have remained unbeaten in the league and have had the perfect record so far. However, defending champions Inter Milan and the history Juventus have in the league shouldn’t be disregarded.

So here are the five frontrunners who we think can compete for the Serie A 2021-22 title.

Defending champions Inter Milan had a difficult summer after winning the Scudetto after eleven years. Everyone was quite aware of the financial distress the club was under and it all started with them parting ways with their manager Antonio Conte. After Conte’s departure, it was the big money move of Achraf Hakimi and the one that hurt the Inter fans the most, the sale of their star striker Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.

Despite the departure of these high profile players, new manager Simone Inzaghi still has some top players to choose from. Inter have had a decent start to the league, having won two out of the three matches they have played so far. They should be there and thereabouts as contenders for this season’s league title.

After a disappointing fifth-place finish in the previous season, Napoli under newly-appointed manager Luciano Spalletti seems ready to fight for the Scudetto once again. They had a quiet summer with regards to transfers but got right-winger Matteo Politano from rivals Inter Milan who has got up to speed pretty early with a goal and an assist already to his name.

Napoli are one out of the three teams that have endured the perfect start to the season and would be hoping to take this form in the Champions League matches as well.

AS Roma under Jose Mourinho seems to be an interesting prospect in this year’s Serie A. They currently sit top of the table with three wins from three games. The most recent one marked a special win for the special one as it was his 1000th game as a manager and his team made sure he had reasons to celebrate.

Roma finished seventh in the previous season and it could be a blessing for Mourinho as his side don’t have any European competition to get distracted by. Mourinho’s record in the Italian league is unreal and Roma fans would be hoping for the Portuguese to get glory days back to the club. The club has supported the manager in the transfer market by signing Tammy Abraham from Chelsea on a hefty fee. They have also made some other shrewd signings and look like a force to be reckoned with this season.

The club with the most European history in Italy, AC Milan seems to be on the way back to being amongst the title contenders regularly in Serie A. They seem to be improving under manager Stefano Pioli and after finishing runners up in the previous season, they’d be eyeing the league title this season.

They have squad depth, unlike the previous season after acquiring Olivier Giroud from Chelsea and Zlatan Ibrahimovic coming back from his long term injury. Three matches and three wins for Milan and none more impressive than the 2-0 win over Lazio.

People would look at the start of the Serie A season and feel Juventus are going to have a tough time this season. Having lost their major goal threat in Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, goals are becoming difficult to come back for the most successful team in Italy. They brought in a manager with proven pedigree at the club in Massimiliano Allegri this season and the club would be hoping that his know-how about the league and the club, in general, would help them get out of this tough phase sooner rather than later.

They struggled to finish in the top four in the previous season but made it by a whisker on the final matchday. Since then they let go of their manager Andrea Pirlo and Ronaldo, who was their prized possession, left the club for a second spell at Manchester United. They have endured a tough start to the new season. They have failed to win even a single match from the first three encounters and alarm bells are starting to go off from the supporters. On the positive side, they have a few key players in Federico Chiesa, Arthur and Juan Cuadrado injured currently and with them coming back, Juventus could try to put on a title run this season under Allegri.
