Clubs Who Can Challenge Man City For 2021-22 Premier League Title

Manchester City cruised to their fifth Premier League title as Pep Guardiola’s team proved way better than their competitors in the 2020-21 season. However, the 2021-22 Premier League promises to be a different affair altogether. Sir Alex Ferguson once famously said winning the title is one thing but defending the title is the real deal in English football. We saw how Liverpool faltered this year and next season the chasing pack would be looking to hunt Manchester City down.

Building up to the next season, we’ve picked four title contenders for the 2021-22 Premier League title.

MANCHESTER UNITED

Manchester United were the second best team in England this season as their league position clearly signifies. They have a brilliant mix of young and experienced professionals in the squad and next season would surely look to put up a title fight. Edison Cavani has recently signed a contract extension and the club would be in the market this summer looking for top talents to bolster what already looks like a packed squad.

Their young attackers like Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James and Amad Diallo have had another season under their belt at the top-flight of English football and surely would be improved players come the 2021-22 season. A few shrewd picks in the transfer market and the gap to their neighbours should be bridged.

LIVERPOOL

When it comes to luck this season, Liverpool had none go their way. It’s been a season full of injuries after injuries to key first-team players and Jurgen Klopp’s men struggled to cope up with that. The pressure of defending the title also got the better of them and it has been a season to forget for the majority of its part. But suddenly there seems to be a silver lining for the Liverpool supporters as the club miraculously finds themselves back in form.

If we take the form of the last 10 games in the Premier League into consideration then the Reds are top of that table and have plenty of positives to look forward to. Their star signing of the season Thiago seems to be getting more and more comfortable with the pace and physicality of the league and is pulling the strings in the midfield. With some of the players back from their long term injuries, Liverpool have it in them to become the relentless machines they have been under Klopp recently and will most definitely be in the title race.

CHELSEA

The best signing for Chelsea this season probably has been Thomas Tuchel. The German coach has turned the fortunes of the club and now they have a Champions League final to compete in at the end of the season. The squad looks complete and now they have a top-class manager as well to get the best out of them.

These are all ingredients for a very successful story and we could witness that in the 2021-22 Premier League season. They are lacking a proper centre-forward and if they get their hands on one in the summer, then who knows what Chelsea might go on to achieve next year.

LEICESTER CITY

Leicester City winning the trophy back in 2016 has to be the biggest fairytale story the world of sports has seen in this era. The Foxes were brilliant under Claudio Ranieri and against ridiculous odds went on to lift the trophy. Since then, there have been plenty of ups and downs but now under Brendan Rodgers, they seem to be amongst the best of the league.

They have the lowest budget as compared to the ones mentioned above but have the ability to punch well above their weight. Rodgers is a canny manager who knows that his team has the ability to beat any side on their given day. Wouldn’t it be brilliant if the Foxes were to repeat their achievements of the 2015-16 season? Surely fans around the world would love to witness that all over again.
