Top Transfers Deals Completed Ahead of the Hero ISL 2022-23 Season

The Hero ISL 2022-23 season is just months away and the teams are shaping up nicely ahead of the upcoming season. Some of the teams are pretty active in the transfer market while others are waiting to find an opportune moment to get deals done over the line.

Here in this piece, we’ve identified the top deals that have been completed far ahead of the Hero ISL 2022-23 season.

ASHIQUE KURUNYIAN

Bengaluru FC to ATK Mohun Bagan

In the recently completed Asian Cup Qualifiers, we saw what Ashique Kurunyian is capable of achieving if given the chance to play as a winger. For the past two seasons, Kuruyian’s abilities have been thwarted by Bengaluru FC as he was playing as a wing-back.

Ashique has all the key traits to be a successful winger in the future and under Juan Ferrando, he’ll get the platform to excel and can become a massive attacking threat for the upcoming season.

GREG STEWART

Jamshedpur FC to Mumbai City FC

The Hero of the Season from the previous edition, Greg Stewart has made a big money move to one-time champions Mumbai City FC for the coming seasons. Stewart was Jamshedpur FC’s best player under manager Owen Coyle but now the Red Miners are without the Scottish duo for the next season.

Mumbai City FC have made a headline signing with Stewart and the playmaker should thrive under the attacking philosophy of Des Buckingham with the Islanders.

ASISH RAI

(Hyderabad FC to ATK Mohun Bagan)

Asish Rai is one of the upcoming players of Indian football. Recently, the Mariners have gone out and acquired his services from Hyderabad FC. Asish was a key member of Manolo Marquez’s winning side in the previous season and was by far the best right back in the country.

His work rate is second to none and the quality in the final third is also improving with every season. Juan Ferrando has got a solid defensive option who is equally good at both ends of the pitch at his disposal for the coming season.

ALVARO VAZQUEZ

Kerala Blasters to FC Goa

Kerala Blasters’ number nine, who took them to the final of the 2021-22 season, Alvaro Vazquez will don the orange of FC Goa for the Hero ISL 2022-23 season. The former Spanish Under-19 striker, Vazquez was pretty successful in his maiden season in Indian football.

He caused defenders all sorts of issues, with his aerial presence and the ability to run in behind. His link-up play with the midfield will be key for him to be a potent goalscorer at Goa.

FLORENTIN POGBA

FC Sochaux to ATK Mohun Bagan

Perhaps, the biggest name to sign ahead of the 2022-23 Hero ISL season, the league has its very own Pogba now as Florentin, Paul Pogba’s older brother has joined ATK Mohun Bagan. The central defender has experience of playing in the UEFA Europa League and Ligue 1. More recently he was with the French second division club, FC Sochaux.

There is plenty of hype around this transfer as a name that is renowned in European football is making its way to Indian football.
