Dwayne John Bravo or DJ Bravo as he’s more colloquially known has a jam-packed 2021 lined up for himself. The fans of the champion have already witnessed him having a successful Abu Dhabi T10 League but that was something of a trailer to what promises to be an action-packed year for the all-rounder.
Here are all the possible tournaments where Dwayne John Bravo would look to light the field up with his attacking style of cricket.
INDIAN T20 LEAGUE
The biggest test for Bravo would be the 2021 edition of the Indian T20 League. It could be his last season in the yellow of Chennai and the last dance of the team led by the great MS Dhoni. They’d be determined to make amends from the disappointment of the previous season and will be ready to hunt for their fourth league title.
Bravo has a key role to play in the season and MS Dhoni would be backing him to come good for one last season.
CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE
The record champions, Trinibago Knight Riders will be out to defend their title in this year’s Caribbean Premier League. The team which went through the entire season unbeaten would start favourites yet again in the league.
Bravo is a core member of the squad, led by his countryman Kieron Pollard. The team relies on his all-round ability to provide the balance in the starting XI, something he would look to replicate this 2021 season as well.
England Cricket Board’s The Hundred – a new 100-ball tournament, will finally launch in July 2021. 252 players will compete for the seven remaining overseas spots in the draft of the tournament. Dwayne John Bravo has put his name forward for this draft and will be sure to attract plenty of interest from the franchises in the tournament.
ICC T20 WORLD CUP
Lastly, the biggest tournament of them all, the ICC T20 World Cup will be played in India starting October. Bravo’s team, the West Indies will start the tournament as the defending champions and will have happy memories of lifting the trophy back in 2016. Bravo was a key member of that winning team but things have changed since then.
The Champion last played a T20I for the Windies back in 2020 against Sri Lanka. Since then the team has played a series in New Zealand which Bravo missed due to a groin injury. Still, his experience in the format will be something the team will value immensely given the stature of the tournament. Expect Bravo to play an important role in the defence of their World title.
