The Kings XI Punjab take on the Chennai Super Kings (KXIP vs CSK) at Dubai to mark the eighteenth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. These two teams became the first teams to register three losses in the tournament. Chennai are consistent with their playing eleven on most days and the Kings on the other hand are notorious for inflicting regular changes to their combinations.
CSK have been dominant over the Kings by winning 12 as compared to 8 games won by KXIP. In the last five matches as well, the team from Chennai have managed to win three times and will look to get one more in this match. Both these teams are at the bottom of the table currently and this KXIP vs CSK match could be the turning point for them going forward in the tournament.
KL Rahul vs Faf du Plessis
The men in form from both teams will hold the key in this match as well. These two are the premier openers from their teams and are the potential danger men for the opposition.
These two Orange Cap contenders will be looking to get the better of each other in this match. KL Rahul has happy memories of playing at the Dubai stadium as he made this year’s first century at the same venue. He’s been in sparkling form and we expect him to continue scoring the big runs.
In a batting line-up which is struggling badly to find some rhythm, Faf du Plessis has been the standout player when it comes to run-scoring. In the last match, he was promoted to open the innings and that could be the best way forward for CSK. KXIP are most dangerous with the new ball when Shami and Cottrell try to swing it upfront. If Faf gets past that initial burst then he’ll look to capitalise swiftly.
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
KL Rahul’s partner in crime while opening the innings and a real contender for the Orange Cap award, Mayank Agarwal has been in fine form this IPL. He has already notched up a century in IPL 2020 and now he’ll look to consistently be amongst the top run-getters. He has found his T20 mojo back and we expect it to continue in the KXIP vs CSK match as well.
CSK will be delighted to have the T20 G.O.A.T Dwayne Bravo back in their line-up. He looked back to his best with the ball in the previous match and didn’t get an opportunity to showcase his class with the bat. Expect him to be amongst the wickets in this match.

CSK: Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (WK) (C), Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Piyush Chawla, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur
