Team Bangalore and Delhi (RCB vs DC) face-off at Dubai with a chance of going to the top of the Indian T20 League table. Historically these two teams have been fighting at the wrong spectrum of the table but it’s a pleasant surprise to see them fighting for that top position.
Both teams have a good amalgamation of top-class experienced players as well as some upcoming young players who are doing exceptionally well. Bangalore has been dominant over Delhi when it comes to the head-to-head battle, winning 13 as compared to 8 by DC. In the last five matches also, they have managed to clinch three victories though DC managed to win the last two games between the two teams.
Virat Kohli vs Shreyas Iyer
The battle between the two captains of their respective teams will dictate the way the game will pan out. These two know each other really well as they are next-door neighbours in Mumbai but friendship will be secondary as both will look to get the better of the other one.
It was brilliant to see Virat Kohli come back to his best in the previous game against RR. He has looked like a shadow of the player he is so far in the tournament but this half-century can help him kickstart his campaign with the bat. It’s been lovely to see this new calm and composed demeanour of Virat and the way RCB have started this season. He is leading run-getter against DC in the tournament and will look to follow it up with yet another half-century.
Shreyas Iyer has been in swashbuckling form in the tournament so far and has led his team from the front. He is making batting look pretty easy in the UAE and DC needs him to continue this good form for the rest of the tournament. Is another fifty on its way for the Delhi captain? We believe so.
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Devdutt Padikkal is the only batsman to hit three half-centuries in his first four innings in the Indian T20 League. He is the top run-scorer for RCB with 174 runs so far in the competition. His strike rate in powerplay is 149.15 while it goes down by around 20% in middle overs. He needs to improve his game against quality spin which DC have in abundance with the likes of R Ashwin and Amit Mishra. It’ll be interesting to see how he negates those threats.
Anrich Nortje has been the surprise package of the tournament so far. At Sharjah when even the best bowlers in the world were going for massive sixes Anrich Nortje kept backing his natural length and that paid dividends for him. Expect him to pick up two plus wickets in RCB vs DC as well.
There are rumours that Chris Morris for RCB is ready to play and should take his position in the line-up in place of Adam Zampa who hasn’t impressed so far. DC will look to keep the momentum going by naming an unchanged line-up. Here’s how both teams can shape up ahead of RCB vs DC.
RCB: Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli (C), AB de Villiers (WK), Shivam Dube, Gurkeerat Singh, Chris Morris, Washington Sundar, Isuru Udana, Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini
DC: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Harhsal Patel, R Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje
