Things are getting interesting in the Indian T20 League as teams are planning extensively to get enough points to reach the playoffs of the tournament. RCB vs KKR will be match number 28 of the league and points will face off against one another at Sharjah.
Both RCB and KKR have played six games each with eight points for both the teams. This match couldn’t be more evenly poised and two points are the key for both the sides. The match would be played at Sharjah which has been a graveyard for bowlers but the last match at the venue saw the pitch slowing up and the spinners seemed to be in business.
Both these teams are coming into this match on the back of promising victories in their previous games. In the last five RCB vs KKR matches, Kolkata have been dominant over Bangalore by winning four out of five matches.
Virat Kohli vs Dinesh Karthik
The battle of the captains, this will be as much as a mental battle than with the bat. Both these players were under a bit of pressure coming into their previous matches and both of them showed that form is temporary but class is permanent. They both managed to score fifty-plus scores for their teams and led them to inspiring victories.
RCB fans would have loved to see the Indian captain, Virat Kohli come back to his natural self as he scored a fabulous 90* against CSK. He was brilliant with his bowling changes as well and that helped RCB achieve their fourth win of the season.
This will be RCB’s first match at Sharjah and Kohli would relish the idea of playing at a flat pitch and small boundaries at the venue.
The pressure on the shoulders of Dinesh Karthik is enormous. Pundits have called for England’s white-ball captain, Eoin Morgan to take charge of the team but the franchise has loyally stuck with DK. When others around him faltered Dinesh stepped up and played a captain’s knock against KXIP.
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Shivam Dube played a very important role in RCB reaching a total of 169 in their previous match against CSK. His cameo innings of 22* ensured that Virat Kohli had someone at the other end relieving the pressure off him and getting the occasional boundary which was required.
With Andre Russell out injured, KKR desperately needs their firepower Eoin Morgan to step up and take the additional responsibility. We’ve seen shades of his brilliance in the tournament so far but he’d look to stamp his authority on this game for sure.
We’re still unsure about the availability of Andre Russell as Dinesh Karthik was tight-lipped on the extent of his injury. If Russell is ruled out then this is how they can line up.
