Match number ten of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take us to Dubai for a clash between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Mumbai Indians (RCB vs MI). A team which is looking to get their first IPL trophy will take on the most successful team of the tournament, Mumbai Indians.
This fixture over the years has been dominated by the team hailing from the Western part of India, Mumbai. MI have won 16 times out of the 25 matches played between the two. The last five matches also have had a similar story of dominance by Mumbai Indians, as they have won four out of five matches.
RCB don’t have happy memories of playing at Dubai as in their last match against Kings XI Punjab they made two unwanted records – conceded the highest score ever in an IPL game in Dubai while they themselves posted the lowest total at the venue.
Hardik Pandya vs Dale Steyn
Hardik Pandya has played a crucial role in the batting line-up lower down the order in their past title-winning seasons. This has been clearly reflected playing against RCB in the IPL, as in nine innings Hardik has been dismissed only twice and has a strike rate of 179.61. He has fared pretty well against the Bangalore bowlers and in his last three innings, he has scored 119 runs off 72 balls striking at 165.27, that too in crucial times.
If RCB are going to be successful in this match they’ll need their champion bowler Dale Steyn to step up. So far in the IPL, his performances have been below par. We’ve seen shades of what Dale Steyn is capable of. Even though he is 37, he still has enough quality to have a strong season.
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Given his high standards on the field, Virat Kohli will be disappointed with the way this IPL has started for him. It’s almost impossible to keep someone of Virat’s talent down for a prolonged period. Expect to see the best of him in RCB vs MI.
One of India’s premier white-ball players, Rohit Sharma has started the IPL on a positive note. His innings against the Kolkata Knight Riders bagged him the Man of the Match Award in Mumbai’s previous game. Expect him to take his good form in the upcoming matches.
