Cameron Green to Gill: Young Cricketers to Look Out for in 2021

Cameron Green who made his debut in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy is grabbing all the headlines due to the skills this young boy possesses. Just like Green, there are four other players who we believe can own the year 2021 and beyond. The coming year is jam-packed with high-octane cricketing action, and we believe, these young players are ones to look out for in 2021.

Young giraffe or ‘Mamba’ as his teammates love to call him, Cameron Green has all the ingredients of becoming a world-class batting all-rounder in the future for Australia. The Western Australian all-rounder is just 21 and is almost 200 cms tall. He has the ability to bowl at 140 km/hr and is an aesthetic looking batsman. His drives down the ground are a delight to watch and he is equally apt against spin bowling as well. We saw a glimpse of his six-hitting ability as well at the Sydney Cricket Ground and it’ll be fascinating to see the teams which will go for the all-rounder in the upcoming Indian T20 League auction.

Classy as ever, Shubman Gill has made a bright start to his Test career. He is brilliant to watch and the way he strokes the ball is something magical. It seems like this kid from Punjab was born to bat and finally, the world can see the abundance of talent he has at the international level. Making a debut in foreign conditions, that too against a quality bowling line-up like the Australian one is never easy and Gill has ticked all the boxes early in his career. He is for sure the one to look forward to in Indian cricket and can easily dominate word cricket this decade. There are future captain vibes as well, but who knows what’s in store for young Shubman in the future.

A player with immense potential who have had a stroke of wretched luck with several injuries early in his international career. The tide will soon turn for young Will Pucovski and then the world will be able to see just what this Australian opener is capable of. We saw shades of his brilliance at the Sydney Cricket Ground in his Test debut against India but he again injured his shoulder while fielding in the second innings. The opening spot in that Australian batting line-up is open for all but Will Pucovski seems the best suited to make that position his own in the future.

For someone who is just 20 currently, Shaheen Afridi has got some decent experience at the international level. He has already been a part of a World Cup squad and slowly but surely, he is emerging as the leader of the Pakistani attack. The left-arm pacer has some decent pace, accuracy and can even swing the ball both ways. The sky’s the limit for young Shaheen and Pakistan cricket seems sorted for years to come in respect to their bowling department with this talented young bowler in their ranks.

SAM CURRAN (England)

Baby faced assassin, Sam Curran is just understanding his true potential at the international level. In a season filled with struggles for Team Chennai, Sam was one of the only rays of hope from their 2020 Indian T20 League campaign. He is just 22 years old and seems like a mainstay in the England cricket team. He has got a brilliant attitude when it comes to how he approaches the game and it shows in the way he performs on the field. Long may it continue for England’s sake.
