All You Need to Know About the Abu Dhabi T10 League Teams

The fourth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League and the second one to take place in Abu Dhabi is all set to take centre-stage from January 28 to February 6, 2021. The tournament remains the only 10-over league to be sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The league has also been licensed by the Emirates Cricket Board to be staged at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

The eight teams are divided into two groups, A and B. The tournament is divided into four stages – group-phase, intergroup matches, playoffs and the final. Here’s all you need to know about the teams participating in the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2021.




The defending champions, Maratha Arabians have gone back to their experienced players and have acquired former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik as their icon player for the season. Malik will lead the Arabians in this year’s Abu Dhabi T10 League. They have also acquired the services of Malik’s compatriot Mohammad Hafeez to give them some decent all-round options. The bowling department looks solid too with the likes of Pravin Tambe and Bangladeshi off-spinner Mossaddek Hossain, who have played the game in some of the top leagues of the world.


The Bangla Tigers managed to get their hands on hard-hitting batsman, Andre Fletcher who will be coming into this tournament on the back of a successful Big Bash League. Apart from Fletcher, the Tigers would be relying on their established international players like David Wiese, Johnson Charles, Muhammad Irfan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman to come good this season.


Our very own Champion Dwayne Bravo will be leading the Delhi Bulls this season in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Captain Bravo has the luxury of some renowned faces in the squad like Mohammad Nabi, Evin Lewis, Ravi Bopara, Adam Lyth, Sherfane Rutherford, Fidel Edwards and Ali Khan. They will be the team to beat this season as it stands right now.


The Northern Warriors squad is filled with some serious talent from the Caribbean Islands. They are led by the young and promising Nicholas Pooran. They have the ferocious hitters in Fabien Allen, Rovman Powell and Lendl Simmons. In Rayad Emrit and Brandon King, they have mainstays of the Caribbean Premier League players. While left-arm pacers in Wahab Riaz and Wayne Parnell will be the pick of the bowlers for the Warriors.




The team from Deccan have some real T20 Gladiators in their ranks. Led by arguably two of the best T20 players in the world, Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine. They also have more than capable hitters of the cricket ball in Colin Ingram and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Shahzad. With the ball, they’ll rely heavily on Imran Tahir to do the majority of the damage.


The Qalandars will have Pakistan superstar Shahid Afridi leading them in this tournament. Some decent English talent is apparent in the team with the likes of Tom Banton, Chris Jordan and Samit Patel who are all known for their T20 game. Sohail Tanveer can be the difference-maker with the ball for the Qalandars.


The ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle will take centre stage in the tournament as he will be leading the team which is from the host city. Gayle would have decent options available to him in the tournament with the likes of Luke Wright, Paul Stirling, Obed McCoy and Jamie Overton. The team will be heavily reliant on their Icon player Gayle to cause havoc in the tournament.


The Pune Devils will debut in the Abu Dhabi T10 League this year and have brought in Thisara Perrera as their Icon player for the season. He has Mohammad Amir with him who has a knack of picking crucial wickets with the new ball. Hardus Viljoen, Devon Thomas, Nasir Hossain and Chadwick Walton will be the other top-draw international players in the squad.
